Terms of Service
These Terms explain the rules for creating an account and using pen-pals.net.

By creating an account or using pen-pals.net, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create or continue using an account. Mandatory rights that cannot legally be waived remain unaffected.

Adult service
You must be at least 18 years old to create or use an account. You must provide accurate age information. Accounts identified as belonging to a person under 18 may be restricted or suspended, with the correction process provided by the service where applicable.

Friendship, not dating
pen-pals.net is designed for international friendship, correspondence, cultural exchange, and conversation. It is not a dating service, follower network, marketplace, or advertising platform. Use the service in a way that respects that purpose.

Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for activity performed through your account. Do not impersonate another person, create accounts to evade restrictions, or transfer access to someone else.

Safety and acceptable use
Do not use pen-pals.net for harassment, threats, hate or abuse, scams or fraud, spam, commercial solicitation, impersonation, illegal activity, or attempts to defeat safety controls. Sexual or explicit material must not be placed in profiles or sent unsolicited. Reports and blocks must not be abused to target other members.

Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give pen-pals.net a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, process, transmit, display, and technically reproduce that content only as needed to operate, secure, moderate, and provide the service. This permission ends when the content is deleted except where limited retention is necessary for safety, legal obligations, dispute handling, or preserved shared conversation history described in the Privacy Policy.

Privacy and moderation
Use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. Private communications are not public content, but reports, automated safety signals, or lawful operational needs may cause relevant content to be reviewed by authorized staff under the service’s access controls.

Service availability
Features may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn. Delivery times shown for digital Snail Mail are part of the product experience and are estimates, not guaranteed real-world postal commitments. We may perform maintenance or limit features to protect reliability or safety.

Restriction, suspension, and termination
We may limit features, restrict contact, suspend, or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect members or the service, comply with law, or respond to security risk. Where the product provides an appeal or correction process, you may use it subject to its stated limits.

Responsibility and liability
Members are responsible for their own interactions and decisions. pen-pals.net does not guarantee the identity, intentions, statements, availability, or conduct of another member. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without guarantees beyond those that cannot legally be excluded, and liability is not excluded or limited where the law prohibits doing so.

Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service changes or legal requirements evolve. The current version and effective date will be published here. If a change materially affects existing members, we will provide reasonable notice or request renewed acceptance where appropriate.

General
If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision once does not waive it. Applicable mandatory consumer and data-protection rights remain unaffected. Disputes are subject to the law and courts that apply under mandatory rules to the particular relationship. In the event of any discrepancy or conflict between the English version and any translated version of these Terms, the English version shall prevail.
